Aditi's POV
Nobody warned me that nights would feel this long.
The clock on the wall read 1:43 AM.
The apartment was silent except for my baby's cries.
I gently rocked her in my arms while pacing across the bedroom.
"It's okay, princess."
My baby only cried louder.
My heart clenched.
Was she hungry?
Uncomfortable?
In pain?
I didn't know.
And that terrified me.
For nine months I had prepared myself for motherhood.
I had read books.
Watched videos.
Listened to advice.
Yet standing here at almost two in the morning, I felt completely lost.
My baby's tiny face turned red as she continued crying.
Tears burned my eyes.
I hated seeing her upset.
"Hush, baby."
I kissed her forehead.
"Please don't cry."
...
My mother walked over and gently touched my baby's cheek.
"Give her to me for a few minutes."
...
My baby finally calmed down.
A tiny yawn escaped her lips.
...
A few minutes later, my baby was asleep again.

Watching my baby.
The moonlight filtered through the curtains and fell across her tiny face.
She looked peaceful.
Safe.
Perfect.
...
Then I began writing.
Dear Princess,
Tonight was difficult.
You cried.
I cried.
And neither of us knew what we were doing.
But somehow we survived our first night together.
Maybe that's enough for now.
I don't know what tomorrow will bring.
I don't know if I'll always make the right decisions.
But I promise I'll always try.
For you.
Always.

I had her.
And she had me.
Outside, the city slept peacefully.
Inside our small apartment, a mother and daughter quietly began learning how to build a life together.
